My day at St Paul's Cathedral London

16/11/2016

Last week Reuben went to the launch of a children’s explorer map at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. He was invited to the lunch because he helped to design the map and his drawings and font were used on it, see an example below and read the article about it.

Norwich Cathedral uses Reuben’s font for family and children’s events too, here is what James Shelton, Marketing Manager at Norwich Cathedral, said: “Everyone at Norwich Cathedral congratulates Reuben on his work with St Paul’s. It is so pleasing to see his talent and fundraising efforts recognised by another Cathedral in this way”.

The co-designer of the map, Andrew Greetham of  Practical Dreamers Design, said: “As well as his creativity, what is most remarkable to me about Reuben is the way he demonstrates the possibility to lead an enjoyable and fulfilling lifestyle, with optimism and imagination, whilst facing the challenges presented by Down’s Syndrome. Working with Reuben and his wonderful illustrations of the animals of St Paul’s was a real joy, I hope the young explorers who come through the cathedral doors will get as much pleasure from the map as I had in helping to create it.”

While he was there Reuben was asked to give a speech for the map launch, take a look…

How was your day at St Paul’s Cathedral?

Reuben: It was a sunny and lovely day. It’s so big you could put a giant inside! We had welcome drinks and cakes, is incredible.

Who went?

Father, mother, cousin Ken, Andrew, Tonia, Mike, Charlie, Sara, Jen, Adam and a big surprise, Tommy boy did come!

How did it all start?

Donna Latham asked me to help, she is amazing lady, thank you Donna for inviting me, I did give her some chocolates.

How did you feel?

Is a special thing, l was emotional and proud. Happy to be involved. I love London.

Reuben has had so much support for his map project in person, on Facebook and on Twitter, follow him at Reubens_World on there and on Facebook Reuben Coe Blogger.
