Reuben's Guide to Tapas in Archidona

Today me and my friend Diana tried some tapas in my town Archidona, Andalucia, Spain,

Hotel Escua

We went to Hotel Escua in Archidona first. We tried Salmorejo and Carne con Tomate

Salmorejo is a cold tomato soup like gazpacho, in Archidona it’s sometimes called Porra. Me and Diana both loved this one, gold star for the day.

Carne con Tomate is pork pieces in tomato sauce, it was tasty but we thought it was a bit oily.

The tapas here were free, we only had to pay for drinks. They didn’t have much choice but what they had was nice. The hotel is on the outskirts of Archidona with nice views.

Bar Central

Next we went to Bar Central the oldest bar in Archidona.

We got a plate of tapas to share

Mackerel with tomatoes: simple and tasty.

Russian salad: a potato, vegetable and tuna salad with mayonnaise, gorg! We give this our silver star for today.

Smoked salmon with cheese on a piece of bread: really yummy, a nice surprise.

Boquerones en vinagre: These are pickled fish, very nice but a little salty.

Jamon y queso: Lovely ham and cheese on a piece of bread, the ham was a little bit chewy and the cheese was a bit strong for me.

Lomo de sal: Thin slices of pork which has been rubbed with salt and pepper, really yummy.

A plate of various tapas to share was 8 € here, they were all delicious. Bar Central is on Calle Nueva in the centre of Archidona.

Bar Picasso

At Bar Picasso we tried these tapas:

Gambas Cocido: These cooked prawns were delish, really tasty and we give them our bronze star of the day. Not for those who don’t like peeling their own prawns!

Ensalada Tomate: This was a tomato, pepper and onion salad in vinaigrette, it was tasty and refreshing. Not for you if you don’t like raw onions, they are quite strong.  Green  ones  and  Red  ones

Bar Picasso is on Calle Nueva in the centre of Archidona.

” I   had  Seafood  Prawns     they   are  Orange  Colour   and   Diana  had  Tomoto  Salad  Green  ones  and  Red  ones  and  with  Onions.”
